Preparing Your Company for Mobile Marketing

mobile marketing iphoneMobile is not the marketing medium of the future. It’s a powerful tool you can use right now. Our San Diego website design team has been providing mobile web integration since the concept was first introduced. Our clients are tapping into that multi-billion dollar revenue stream right now. Are you? Don’t you think it’s about time you prepared yourself for mobile marketing? Your competitors, who are most likely already reaching out to mobile users, are starting to pull away from you.

Worldwide, there are 1.2 billion mobile web users and almost ten percent of all website hits in the United States come from mobile devices. Demographically, according to Nielsen, mobile advertising and press releases are the most effective way to reach Asian and Hispanic consumers in the US and abroad. These are two of the most lucrative and fastest growing markets in the world. Is your company positioned to sell to them? Are you even reaching those segments of the population? Our San Diego web design strategies for mobile marketing can help.

Mobile Website Creation and Marketing

Put aside your old ideas about mobile websites. With the popularity of iPhones and Androids on the rise, the picture consumers see on their mobile device is often the same as the one they’ll be able to view on their laptop or desktop, only smaller. Those who own older devices, such as flip phones and early generation blackberries, will see the standard mobile text screen – provided your site has that version available. WordPress offers a number of plug-ins for it. “Custom” sites need a redesign. Contact us here at Skybox Creative to find out which category your website is in.

As for mobile marketing, there are two phases to it. The first is building the mobile website that everyone can view, regardless of which device they’re using. Our San Diego website design specialists can help you with that. The second phase is the actual marketing. There are a number of ways to advertise to and acquire clients on the mobile web. Some of them are identical to the methods used for traditional internet marketing. Others may surprise you. They surprised us this week when we researched this article. Amazingly, Google is at it again. Keep reading to learn about Admob.

Google’s Latest could be their Master Stroke

Two years ago, Google spent $750 million to purchase a mobile ad network called Admob. The acquisition made news for about a week and then slipped back under the radar. Mobile users see the network every day. It’s on over 300,000 apps. What they don’t know is that there are over one million advertisers getting ready to add their spending power to Admob, which as of this week is now fully integrated with Google Adwords. What was a $37 billion revenue stream for Google last year is about to get a whole lot bigger. 1.2 billion Mobile users have just been added to the pool.

A second announcement by Google this week is even more astounding. After years of providing internet users search results based on quality content and link strength, the search giant from Palo Alto made the decision this week to start charging for Google Product Search. Web users will no longer see organic results at the top of the page when they search. Instead, companies will now be able to bid for those top spots, a system that seems eerily similar to the old days when corporate dollars controlled the web. Is this a step backwards? Only time will tell.

SEO, SEM and San Diego Social Media Marketing

Does paid Google Product Search change the rules for our San Diego SEO experts? No, it should actually enhance what we are already doing. PPC and other paid search engine marketing techniques have always been key elements in our traffic generating programs. SEO is a long term strategy, one that will guarantee first page placement in the future. While you’re waiting for that to happen, we employ certain short term methods. Those methods will now put your products on Page One much sooner. Other elements of our SEO marketing programs, such as content development and link building, will in a short period of time bring your website to the same place.

Search engine optimization is still the most effective way to generate sustained quality traffic, and it will remain that way. Google’s change to paid product search doesn’t affect that, but it will lead to better results for our San Diego social media programs. One user pattern of behavior that has remained constant since the dawn of the internet is the tendency consumers have to eventually ignore paid search results. If you look at Adwords statistics from just a few years ago you’ll see a much higher click-through rate then than you do now. Why is that? Buying your way to the top is not the same as earning it. Paid listings don’t guarantee quality. Organic results do.

The worldwide recession of the past four years has left consumers more conscious of how they spend. Instead of buying the “bright and shiny” product that pops up first, they do a little shopping around before they make a purchase. What’s the best way to do that? They ask their friends and family members which product they liked best. This can be done by calling them, stopping by their homes, or checking a Facebook page to see if they’re online. Even if they’re not, there might be some chatter about the product the consumer is looking to buy. Contact Skybox Creative today if you want that chatter to be about your company.
