Skybox Creative and Skybox Ink mingled with these “new leaders” at the New Leaders Council, San Diego Chapter’s Fellows Fundraiser on May 14 at San Diego’s chic W Hotel. The event was focused around the future of progressive leadership, which included the group’s presentation of an environmental leadership award to CleanTECH San Diego. CleanTECH is a new non-profit membership organization formed to accelerate San Diego as a world leader in the clean technology economy. They have been able to secure millions of dollars for green projects throughout San Diego County, included the University of California San Diego and San Diego Unified School District. Skybox Ink served as a sponsor of the event.

NLC is hosting a Cocktail Reception with Congresswoman Susan Davis (Invited) to Present NLC’s Community Collaboration Award honoring CleanTECH San Diego, a clean energy nonprofit in San Diego.

Why honor CleanTECH?
CleanTECH San Diego exemplified NLC’s values of collaborative, progressive leadership by establishing a community coalition to secure $154M in federal allocations for financing renewable energy projects, such as solar power installations, on behalf of a number of local municipalities.

Skybox had the chance to meet with Adam Hale of Blend, a well-branded printing company who prides themselves on exceptional digital printing. As we got to chatting about coating options and elaborate branded materials, Hale pointed us in the direction of Creative Coatings, a company in San Diego that specializes in unique coating treatments.

We also stopped by the Mohawk Fine Papers booth and picked up some of their latest samples, as well as In To Ink Letterpress, which had some truly beautiful invitations and envelopes. They describe their letterpress work as:

Skybox Creative’s eco-friendly printing business, Skybox Ink is doing increasingly well, and we are consistently expanding product options and paper stocks. Skybox Creative has also been working with some wonderful clients, both new additions to our business family and some long-standing relationships. We are also very excited to be working with new client Iaomai Medical Ministries, a medical outreach non-profit here in San Diego. Many good tips were passed around by those attending, including using an eFax or a scanner to get around using excess paper, saving energy by using natural light when possible and bringing a lunch to avoid to-go waste. Other ideas that might take a little more extensive work included altering your business accounting practices: receiving and paying for bills electronically, and limiting paper waste by having all accounting files as electronic pdfs on a computer and back up drive.

Skybox Creative shared our green business – Skybox Ink – a fully-automated printing website that uses recycled stock, chlorine free paper and soy and vegetable inks for printed materials, but still upholds high-quality standards. Skybox Creative and Skybox Ink are also going to be hosting a Green Business Mixer on Thursday December 17, from 7 – 9pm at Se San Diego downtown. It will be an opportunity to connect eco-savvy businesses and those looking get involved in the green movement. It will also be the first in a quarterly series!
